Chapter Twelve

Stana

I was watching the helplessness play out on Garrison’s face when he realized I was being taken. I tried to convey a look of strength on my face before I was pushed into the car. There were times in your life when you knew you were fucked but you had to be stronger than those moments. So that was what I did. I built up my walls to keep the oncoming bullshit from getting to me.

I had a feeling I knew where I was being taken to. I didn't know why but I felt it was my father’s men that took me. The men in the SUV were silent the whole ride. It made it unnervingly hard to get a clue as to what was going on. I just sat like a good little hostage and continued to hate my father. I figured if I was going to be stuck here for a while I might as well build all my hate for him so that way when I saw him I could show him he had no effect over me anymore. Not that he should have but there was always going to be a little girl inside of me that wanted her daddy to save her not sell her away.

Sure enough, we pulled up to his unnecessarily huge mansion. In order to get to the long driveway, we had to go through a gated fence and security. As soon as the car was put into park, I was ripped out of the backseat like a fucking ragdoll. It felt like my arms were being ripped right out of my sockets. “Could you take it easy please? Fragile cargo and all that.” I sneered at them. I really hated this shit. Men had no business manhandling a woman.

When I took the time to actually look around, I realized that nothing had changed. There was still a manicured lawn with some shrubs on the sides of the small porch area. The door was still bright red and for some reason, it always reminded me of a stop sign. Like a warning not to walk into the house. The rest of the place was white and looked too clean. Not like it should have been dirty but more like a museum maybe?

The walkway up to the door had square stones leading to the porch. While walking up to the house or more like being dragged I noticed there were no cars in the driveway. Usually, there were at least two. One for the maid and one for the butler. Yes, he had a fucking butler insert eye roll here, please.

As soon as we got to the door the bane of my existence came out and looked me up and down with a disgusted look on his face. That was fine; it probably matched the one I gave him right back. He let out a sigh that was one I had heard many times when he was dealing with me. Whatever. He could puff until his lungs gave out and I would spit on his dead body if it were up to me.
